The Power of Emotions

Today my mind has been dwelling on emotions. Emotions are part of humanity. I like to describe them as a “sense”; we have sight, smell, taste, hearing, touch and the medical field added pain to this giving us 6 senses. I believe our emotions are a sense because with the other 6 listed above, we express and experience life through them all. Senses are necessary. We can be safe with touch, avoiding fire or cold exposures. We can smell smoke, avoid or clean up areas that have toxic smells. Emotions can create wellness or sickness. Negative emotions should be felt, expressed safely and clearly, and given space, not avoided, buried or ignored. By feeling anger, working through it and releasing it, we create wellness in our mind, body and spirit. By feeling bitterness, the same. We must not ignore our emotions and positive emotions can create deception. We can begin to believe that if we are not always ”up”, happy, giddy, or even peaceful that our world is bad! Emotions should hold space but they should never control life! When emotions control, we then experience anxiety, depression, Bi-polar, etc. A healthy human can hold space and recognize how to manage the moments of daily living. This one concept can give each one who practices this, control over moments, health in mind and body, and opportunity to give others grace. My prayer this season is that individuals will begin to hold space with emotions, working through it and then release all emotions so the daily part of life is balanced with peace! ❤️🙏🏽❤️
