Food as Medicine

I was never taught the value of food. I was taught to eat. “Eat what is put before you because someone worked hard to purchase and prepare it.” “Eating is an event like sleeping, walking, studying.” “Eating is what we do together.” “Eating is a time to indulge.” The dynamic that we should eat for health and wellness was something I learned because in my 20’s I was sick but without diagnosis, and I happened upon the concept of food as medicine. Our culture and humans place a lot of value on food for how it makes us “feel”. Food is accepted in any form to satisfy something deep within us. When I first learned that not all food is equal or healthy, I was genuinely surprised but the concept rang as truth in my soul. I learned the lesson by stopping soda, in particular Coke, replacing it with water. My word the headaches!!!! I had a severe debilitating headache for 36 hours. I thought I was dying. The other lesson came when I stopped dairy. No more sinus infections. Then taking sugar from my diet meant energy like crazy! I have learned the value of eating fresh foods, unique foods, produce not always because I love it but because the nutritional value feeds my body giving me wellness. I can say from my own experience and others testimonies, food has healed me and them and often just one simple change proves to be that ONE THING needed to change the cells, nerve responses and proven that the ONE SIMPLE THING often tips everything in favor of healing. There is a saying in natural health, “We crave what we cannot digest.” And, “A certain craving(s) is often linked to a nutritional deficiency.” So, I encourage you to think about what you eat, why you eat it, what if you made one truly significant change and you found that ONE HEALTH ISSUE disappeared...think on it! Want some support, suggestions or direction, let me know! It’s one of my specialties, but understand, the choice to change falls directly back on you! ❤️
