Cold water therapy

Not a new catch phrase! It is a true therapy to help heal the vagus nerve. Ever hear of “polar bear club”? Those crazies that jump into freezing ice water...so, many of them may not be doing that for the health benefit. Someone may have dared them but it really does do the body good to experience that jolt! I’m not saying hypothermia! Try this and start in small time frames; in the shower turn the water to warm. Not hot. I can hear you saying, “I am cold and want to warm up! I’ll freeze.” Just try. Yes! Even in winter! Step in, giving your body time to adjust, but as you are adjusting to warm in the brain, turn the temperature knob slowly towards cool....don’t think about it. Do this and give yourself time. No need to freeze yourself in the shower first off but gradually allow the body to feel the cold water. Here’s another option, step outside in the winter, in short sleeve or no coat. Just about 5 minutes. This is proven to reset your system allowing inflammation to decrease and healing to increase! Give it a try and come back and report!
