As with all food or diet plans, raw food has variances. A true “raw foodie”, doesn’t eat cooked or processed foods. Everything as God intended, straight from the ground. There are some truly beautiful and delicious AND easy to prepare recipes for this lifestyle. The next step is vegan. They eat the raw foods but also slightly steam or stir fry in a clean oil their veggies. They add complex carbs as well. If you wish to follow this lifestyle, make sure you get vegetable protein daily. Seeds, lentils and nuts are great protein. Tempeh and pea powder are another great source. Consider hemp as a protein option as well. The beauty of vegetable protein, it breaks down in the gut within 4-8 hours (compared to 18-24 hours to digest animal protein from cows or chickens). That is helpful when bowel issues, allergies and even mental fatigue is a concern. I love fish so I am considered a pescatarian. Raw foods, slightly steamed or stir fried in clean oil can offer cellular rest even regeneration to cells that can help the body find healing. Fresh produce at local farms is considered the best purchase. Small local farmers often have delivery systems making it easier to obtain the fresh items they offer.
