When my oldest son was born, he was sick. Not with a deadly disease just always sick. By age 3, he was diagnosed with asthma and used a nebulizer daily. Many nights were spent up, doing treatments and when it became bad enough, emergency rides to the hospital. A couple of times in an ambulance! For three years we dealt with this and the fear of it. While here in Utila, Honduras, I was told of a 4 year old child who died of asthma. They do not have healthcare here and any expense is out of pocket. The parents couldn’t afford to fly him and he died. I see the diets of this people and the white simple carbs are number one for meals because it’s cheap! Diabetes and cholesterol are issues here as well. When Colby was turning 6, I began learning of the importance of nutrition. The number one science I learned was how deadly “white” carbs are! White sugar and white flour. I removed it all from our diets, within 2 months he was symptom free and not needing the medication! He never had another asthma attack while in my care! I believe foods matter and a label doesn’t make it nutritious! Raw fruits and veggies, fresh whole foods have nutrition that truly feeds and nourishes the body!
