Let’s Talk Poop

I have been studying people and their poo for 20 years. I have heard repeatedly clients tell me their health care practitioner has told them, how ever often or not so often you poop, is “your normal”. Having a nurse degree, I heard this phrase, “your normal” often. It is similar to baseline. Baselines are established during assessments. When we do BP’s or any other checks it is to establish baselines, “your normal” at that time. When my clients came to me and stated,”I only poop once a week.” Or, “I poop all the time, I think I have a bowel disease!” Then I must ascertain, as a natural health practitioner, that “your normal” is abnormal! So, all that said. What is normal? If you eat, then you must poop. Like babies who nurse from the breast, no you may not need to poop your pants during a meal....but when we eat, there is a transition time that must occur. Vegetarians and vegans poop more regularly than meat eaters. Vegetables and fruits take 2-4 hours to pass through your system. Meat takes 18-24 hours. Carbohydrates that are complex take 6-8 hours to pass. So, if you eat fruit at breakfast, expect that by noon you should expel waste. If you have meat for dinner, the next day should be an elimination  within 24 hours of eating. So, if you need health suggestions then ask! I am not afraid!
